About John Crago

I have been a sculptor my whole life, working in various mediums of glass, metal, and stone. In tandem, I have been studying and practicing energy and healing since I was 15, leading me to many healing studies and practices of meditation, massage, energy work, and quantum healing. Now 73, the outcome of these two interests and others is my lifetime in the making project, the ElectroMagnetic Rainbow.

Education:

I am self taught in stained glass, wood, metal, stone, hot glass, and design. I received a scholarship to Penland School of Craft for hot glass and apprenticed under a teacher at Vanderbilt University in hot glass.

In 1968 I studied photography and worked with Bill Eggleston in Memphis, and put on the first multi screen film show in the Museum of Modern Art of experimental film and music in 1969.

Past work:

Commissioned to deliver a steel and glass sculpture to the city of Atlanta for the Bi-centennial in 1976.

Designing the interior for an award winning restaurant in Savannah Ga., Il Pasticcio, for which I fabricated a mixed media water sculpture made from granite, hand blown glass, Steel, copper, and water jet inlay of stone on the entry floor.

For 15 years I owned my own design and install stone fabrication business in Hilton Head Island, producing art pieces in stone, fountains, sculpture, and stained glass.
